Hello there! I’m Alex.
I’m honoured to introduce myself as a dual Registered Nurse and Midwife based in Canberra, Australia. For the past 15 years, I’ve dedicated my career to working across various fields of nursing and midwifery, which has fueled my passion for empowering the women and families in my care.
Becoming a midwife in Australia is more than just a profession; it’s a privilege to walk alongside women during one of the most profound experiences of their lives. Each birth, each journey into motherhood, is a unique story, and being entrusted to support and guide women through this transformative time is an incredible honour.
To further my ability to provide comprehensive care, I have extended my studies to become an IBCLC Lactation Consultant and completed postgraduate studies in Maternal Critical Care. I’m deeply committed to supporting women as they navigate the often challenging side of motherhood. It’s not just about birth; it’s about helping women find their strength, confidence, and voice in every aspect of their maternal journey.
My experience working both within the community and in hospital settings has shown me the gaps that still exist in the support systems available to new parents. From bustling urban centres to remote rural towns, I’ve seen how access to quality care can vary widely. In hospitals, I’ve witnessed the pressures that can sometimes lead to rushed care, where the emotional and psychological needs of women aren’t always fully met. In community settings, I’ve encountered mothers who felt isolated, struggling to find the support they desperately needed.
These experiences have driven me to bridge those gaps, offering care that is not only clinically excellent but also deeply compassionate and holistic. I’ve seen firsthand how crucial it is to provide continuity of care—support that begins during pregnancy and extends well into the postnatal period. This realisation inspired me to take my services beyond traditional settings and offer them online. Growing up and spending much of my career in rural and regional communities has given me a deep understanding of the challenges in accessing specialised care. I believe that no matter where you are located, you should have equal access to the support and services you need.
If you’re looking for guidance, support, or even just a friendly chat, I’m here for you. Let’s navigate this journey together.
xx Alex
My Approach
I strongly believe that the key to empowerment is through personalised and realistic practice. This allows people to thrive in the transition into parenthood and beyond.
realistic
I believe strongly that plans need to be achievable. There is no point in trying to make a plan that sets someone up to fail!
Each plan is made following consultation, with clear achievable goals.
Personalised
Every person is different! Not one story is ever the same, no matter how similar it is. This is why I approach every situation individually.
Every interaction and plan is made just for you. This takes into consideration your needs, goals and beliefs.
