When you book your hire, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions:

1. Your hire includes:

   • 1 x Birth Sling

   • 2 x arm slings

   • 1 x handheld pump

   • 1 x drawstring carry bag

   • 1 x door anchor

   • 1 x beam anchor

2. Refunds will not be provided if the Birth Sling is not used during your hire period.

3. Midwife Alex provides the customer/hirer with a Birth Sling and its accessories with the understanding that it is for the sole use of the person named on the booking and is not transferable to others.

4. If you wish to cancel your Birth Sling hire before it has been dispatched, you may do so and will be refunded the hire amount, less a $10 administration fee.

5. The hirer agrees to return the Birth Sling and its accessories to Midwife Alex. It is the hirer’s responsibility to check the contents of the hire package upon receipt. To return the Birth Sling, the hirer agrees to drop it off at Little Matters, 84/15 Braybrooke Street, Bruce, ACT.

6. The hirer confirms they have discussed using the Birth Sling with their medical practitioner overseeing their care and have received approval to use it during labour.

7. The Birth Sling must only be used as per the instructions set out by creator Dr Jess Micheal’s website, Midwife Alex is not responsible or liable for any injury or damage resulting from improper use of the Birth Sling. The hirer accepts all responsibility and risk for its use.

8. While we understand that accidents happen, the hirer is responsible for covering the cost of any damage caused by misuse or neglect of the Birth Sling or its accessories during the hire period.

9. Birth slings that are grossly contaminated with blood or bodily fluids should be discarded and considered biohazard waste regardless of persons infectious status. Grossly contaminated: saturated, dripping, caked with blood or bodily fluid, has the potential to release blood or other potentially infectious materials if compressed, or can flake off during handling. The Hirer will be liable to cover the purchase of the birth sling.

10. The Hirer will ensure The Birth Sling is returned washed in low-temperature machine or hand wash using laundry detergents that are able to produce hygienically clean laundry without the presence of chlorine bleach. Using a laundry bag is also recommended to ensure the hardware doesn’t become tangled and/or damaged and The Birth Sling is air dried. 

11. It is the responsibility of the hirer to identify the following for themselves prior to use:
    Contraindications for use of The Birth Sling

    • Ruptured membranes without engagement of fetal head

    • Unstable blood pressure, balance and/or mentation 

    • Any condition requiring bedrest  

    It is recommended that anyone using The Birth Sling must:

    • Have a steady gait 

    • Be able to call for assistance if needed 

    • Be able to support themselves without assistance

12. Midwife Alex respects your privacy and will not share your personal information unless required to do so by law.
